Be Kind 

-Kindness is one of our core values and we want this to be a safe space for everyone. 

-We recognize that it takes courage to tell stories that have been silenced through other channels. 

-We want people to feel less alone in their negative experiences in the craft field. 

-We believe that people’s stories ought to be heard and ought to be heard with empathy, nuance, and a sense of perspective. We hope that submitters can find community support on Craft Equity. 

-We will delete comments that are offensive and deliberately hurtful, including name-calling and doxxing. 

-We will block users who are abusive or who hamper productive dialogue between other commenters.     

Don't Speculate 

-Speak only for yourself. If it is not your personal story, it is not your story to tell. If a post doesn’t name anyone, don’t speculate about anyone’s identity in the comments. This is a space for community-building and idea-sharing—we do not want it to be a rumor mill. 

-If you want to back up someone’s story about an offender, please submit your own personal story about that offender through the google form. 

-Respect anonymity. Respect others’ boundaries, including their wish to be anonymous or not to be tagged. Concerns about retaliation, physical safety, and mental well-being are among the reasons people want to stay anonymous and this applies equally to the Craft Equity team. 

-We delete all comments that speculate on identity or challenge anonymity.     

Be Constructive 

-If you have helpful information regarding procedures, policies, and resources that can help submitters or others with similar experiences, please share in our comments and tag experts. 

-We hope that Craft Equity can be a place of learning and growth, individually and institutionally. 

-We are creating a new system where each of us can help shape the tone and tenor of this feed through comments and feedback. 

-The organizing team is small and collaborative—we may not be able to respond to everything, and responses may take time.
